<Disney movie 'Brave'(2012)>
In June, last year, Disnay and Pixar launched its 13th animation movie, 'Brave'. It is the first Pixar animation to be a girl as the main character.
The background of the story is a Scottish princess named Merida having conflict with her mother, who is the queen of the kingdom. Merida tries to change her mother by magic, but the queen changes into a bear. Then Merida goes on an adventure to change her mother again. The original story of the movie is a woman archer in the fairy tale <The Legend of Scotland>.
When the movie started showing on Korean theaters, it didn't succeeded much because a child having conflict with her mother is a ordinary story of Korean dramas. Actually, many bloggers criticized the story and praised the graphic.
In the movie, Disney and Pixar are trying to give the audience the message 'Select your own lives, but the responsibility to your choice is yours'. This domestic message that the movie gave made me almost forget that the movie was historical. However, it also means it is not strange to change the Scottish castle into a ordinary house.
There is something I want to criticize. In the movie, Merida appears to be a very independent character, but sometimes she only tries to rely on the will-o-the-wisps that leads Merida, when she tries to go to the witch's house for the second time.
In general, Brave is a movie which shows us the graphic and image of Pixar, yet unlike other Pixar movies, it leads us to a domestic and ordinary conclusion.
